The 3rd MIPHCM Raise Issues of Health Challenges Facing the 2045 Demographic Bonus
The third year of the Muhammadiyah International Public Health and Medicine Conference (MIPHCM) raises the issue of health challenges and facing a demographic bonus in the upcoming 2045. The conference, which was held online, Thursday (27/07/2023), carried the theme Demographic Dividend Towards The Transformation Of Health Services .
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta ( ), Dr. dr. H. Muhammad Fachri, Sp.P, FAPSR., welcomed the presence of experts who shared knowledge, government representatives, associations and non-governmental organizations. According to him, this conference is a place to exchange information and knowledge so that it is beneficial for all parties involved.
On this occasion, Fachri conveyed the condition of Indonesia which is experiencing an aging population, namely an increase in the elderly population over 60 years. The number of elderly people is projected to reach 19.8 percent in 2045. Therefore Fachri said that the health sector in Indonesia could make adjustments to changes in the age structure of the population.
This is done by providing treatment and prevention services for chronic diseases. In addition, family planning and reproductive health services need to be improved. He also emphasized that the government pays more attention to equality in the context of health services.
In line with this, UMJ Chancellor Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., said that Indonesia would face big challenges. Therefore, the government and related parties need to ensure that the health and social systems are prepared to make good use of the demographic transition.
The resource persons involved were Prof. Anwar Mallongi, SKM, M.Sc., Ph.D. ( , Makassar), Prof. Dr. Juliana Jalaludin ( ), Prof. Asnawi Abdullah, BSc.PH., MHSM., M.Sc.HPPF., DLSHTM., Ph.D. (Aceh Muhammadiyah University), Dr. Kraichat Tantrakarnapa ( , Thailand), Prof. Janvier Gasana, MD., MPH, Ph.D. ( ), Prof. How-Ran Chao (University of Science and Technology), and Dr. Wesan Al Madhoun (Global Ambassador of Sustainability).
The conference which is held routinely every year is a collaboration between , FKK, (Faculty of Nursing) UMJ and HAKLI (Indonesian Association of Environmental Health Experts). A total of 210 participants from 29 tertiary institutions took part in a series of conferences which lasted for two days until Friday (28/07/2023).
On the second day, conference participants will share their findings on epidemiology, health policy, environmental health, surgery, internal medicine, nursing, and midwifery. Dean of FKM UMJ, Dr. Andriyani, M. Kes., said that the conference which is held every year gets a good response and appreciation from foreign academics.
He said this was because he received many requests from experts in the health sector who had the desire to participate in the conference. Andriyani said that the conference would produce outputs in the form of international proceedings. "Hopefully later the proceedings will be Scopus indexed and will be able to recruit more students and lecturers from abroad," said Andriyani when met at the UMJ FKM Building, Thursday (07/27/2023).
